Looking forward to the talk today at CSU Fort Collins, followed by the reception at the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art (GAMA).
There are many people to acknowledge with an exhibition and project like this. Lynn Boland, Director and Chief Curator of GAMA, and staff have been incredible to work with -- this is an ambitious project and installation! Professor Emily Fischer, her colleagues, and grad students at CSU's Department of Atmospheric Science were generous with insights and collaboration. Cohorts In Boulder and Fort Collins, Marda Kirn of EcoArts Connections and Mindy Hill of CSU's Center for Environmental Justice, connected the Smog Collector project with over 200 participants of all ages. This Saturday at GAMA's Family Day, visitors can make their own plates.
A special thanks to Professor Eliza Gregory at Sacramento State who hosted the workshop with her Photography students when the Smog Collector survey was exhibited at the university gallery; and to Professor Lucy HG Solomon whose students created the plates with me days prior to the COVID lockdown at Cal State San Marcos, and their Smog Collectors remained on the roof, marking the time period of he epidemic response.
I'm also grateful to art teachers Alice Champagne and Julie Hansen-Conn, whose 7th Graders in the Poudre School District participated, and to Petrichor Collective for hosting one of the workshops.
This artwork is to amplify and clarify our voices. Many more people to thank and in time this will happen but for now, the images tell much about our relationship to the air and society. I hope you get a chance to visit.
